# Problems addressed

What does SOVDEX aim to solve?

SOV needs improved liquidity and tighter spreads between the bid and ask. Centralized exchanges are an option but CEXs are not ideal for many reasons including security, trust, centralization, and regulation. The risks of losing all your coins from a hack, exit scam, new regulations, or any other fault due to centralization are real. Order based DEXs like Newdex and FINDEX are essential, but these types of DEXs are also notorious for large spreads.

This is why SOVDEX was created.
